What is a Blade Damper?
Awesomatix blade dampers replace conventional oil-filled rear shocks with a leaf spring / blade flexion element.
Instead of orifice-flow damping (force β velocityΒ²), blade dampers provide:
Spring rate from cantilever beam flexion: k = EΒ·wΒ·tΒ³ / (4Β·LΒ³)
Damping from material hysteresis (Coulomb-like, nearly constant with velocity)
Very linear response β no progressive damping curve
Lower overall damping (ΞΆ β 0.02-0.10) vs oil shocks (ΞΆ β 0.3-0.8)
Key difference: Rear roll stiffness comes primarily from the blade spring + rear ARB,
not from shock damping. This means the rear behaves with less high-speed damping and more linear response.
